แบบเจาะจงเวลา

เด็กๆ เคยเรียนใช่ม่ะค่ะ today, tomorrow, yesterday. ง่ายปาย ใครๆ ก็รู้อ่ะ

แล้ว last week, last month, last year ก็ยังไม่มีอะไร อาทิตย์ที่แล้ว เดือนที่แล้ว ปีที่แล้ว
เอ.. แล้ว 2 อาทิตย์ที่แล้วอ่ะ ว่าไง ... เฉลย ก็ใช้ 2 weeks ago ไง หรือ 3 days ago, 3 months ago, 5 years ago อย่าได้หลงไปใช้ last 2 weeks นะ มันใช้ม่ะได้
จริงๆ แล้วเราจะใช้ 1 week ago, 1 month ago หรือ 1 year ago ก็ได้เหมือนกันนะ มีความหมายเหมือนกับ อาทิตย์ที่แล้ว เดือนที่แล้ว ปีที่แล้วเหมือนกัน
แต่ที่ไม่ค่อยเคยเห็น 1 day ago มันฟังดูแมร่งๆ ชอบกลเอามากๆ เพราะว่า มันก็คือ yesterday นะเองอ่ะ ส่วน last day มีใช้เหมือนกัน แต่ไม่ได้มีความหมายว่าเืมื่อวานนี้ แต่จะมีความหมายตามคำ คือ วันสุดท้าย

ถ้าจะพูดถึงอนาคต ก็ next week, next month, next year ว่ากันไป
แล้ว อีก 2 เดือนข้างหน้าอ่ะ ก็ next 2 months แล้วก็ next 3 weeks, next 4 years
หรือจะบอกว่า สิ้นเดือนนี้ ก็ by the end of the month เช่น The new restaurant will be open by the end of the month.
เวลานี้ของปีหน้า ก็ this time next year เช่น This time next year, we'll be millionaires! (เอ่อ... อยากให้เป็นงั้นจริงๆ จังเยย)

แบบไม่เจาะจงเวลา

แบบที่เจาะจงเวลา มันก็งั้นๆ ไม่ค่อยมีอะไรยากเท่าไร แต่พอเราจะบอกว่า เมื่อกี้นี้, เมื่อวันก่อน..., ทุกวันนี้..., หรือ เร็วๆ นี้... เนี้ยะ นึกยากจริงๆ เพราะอาจาร์ยภาษาอังกฤษไม่เคยสอนอ่ะ ไม่รู้ทำไม ฉะนี้แล้วก็มาดูกันดีกว่า

Past
a moment ago - เมื่อกี้นี้
a short time ago - นานกว่าเมื่อกี้นี้หน่อยนึงมั้ง
the other day - เมื่อวันก่อน (ไม่รู้ว่าวันไหนเหมือนกัน)
ages and ages ago - เมื่อนานมาแล้ว
many moons ago - นานมาแล้วเหมือนกัน

เช่น
I've already heard the news. She told me a short time ago.
I went shopping the other day.
I've know about it for a very long time. She told me ages and ages ago.
Many moons ago, he told me the story of his life.

Present
for the time being - ตอนนี้, ช่วงนี้
these days - ทุกวันนี้
in this day and age - ในยุคสมัยนี้

เช่น
For the time being, I'm catching the bus to work, but I hope to get a bicycle soon.
These days I'm happy at work, but there were times in the past when I was unhappy.
In this day and age it is normal for women to be senior managers, but it wasn't always like that.

Very soon or immediately
as soon as possible
straight away
in a minute or two / in a second or two

Future
in the not too distant future เช่น I'll be seeing my sister in the not too distant future.
